The resort of Donovaly is situated in the heart of Slovakia, between the Low Tatra and High Tatra mountain ranges, between Banská Bystrica and Ružomberok. It offers easy access to a wide variety of leisure acitivies and excellent customer service both during the summer and winter months. It is one of the most popular destinations for both domestic and foreign visitors.

History of Donovaly
In the 17th Century the coalmen´s villages were founded. Several villages was unit to Donovaly, which starts the administration center / first written notes is from 1710/ and its inhibitors worked with wood or at the wood railways. During World War II the area was the center of Partisan Resistance, its wooded hills offering refuge and safety.

The stylish original architecture adds character to the area; the classicist church and wood houses with balconies, which blend attractively in with the hilly terrain.

Today this is one of the most popular mountain resort in Slovakia.

How to reach Donovaly
By car:
The resort Donovaly is located on the main E77 route, which goes from Hungary through Slovakia to Poland /Budapešt - Banska Bystrica – Ružomberok – Krakow. The route is well sign posted.

By plane:
The Airport Sliac is situated only 40 km from the resort Donovaly. There is a straight connection Sliac – Praha. You can hire a taxi or bus from Sliac – Banska Bystrica – Donovaly.
Bratislava airport is situated 230 km from the resort Donovaly. From Bratislava you can choose between bus and rail connection. ( see www.cp.sk )

By bus:
There is a regular bus connection from Banská Bystrica, Ružomberok, Liptovská Mikuláš. You can approach these towns by bus or train. More information you can find at: www.cp.sk.
